How Still Remote counts.

A posting counts as remote when the employer's own location text says remote, anywhere, distributed, work from home, WFH or virtual. Hybrid never counts. A structured "remote" flag on a job board is used only when there is no location text at all, or when the location names only a country, state or province; a city with the flag is an office.

An open role is one posting on the company's own board, counted the way the employer publishes it. Some employers post the same job once per sales territory or once per state licence, so one title can appear dozens of times. We do not merge those repeats: a posting per territory or per licence can be a separate opening, and the board does not say which ones are. So a company's role count can be larger than its number of distinct jobs. Each company page shows which teams the postings sit in.

Each company's own job board, the whole board, every discipline, on one of ten applicant tracking systems: Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, SmartRecruiters, BambooHR, Breezy, Recruitee, Pinpoint and Teamtailor. Workday boards are excluded: their API returns search subsets, so a whole-board denominator would be a guess. Boards above 500 roles on SmartRecruiters are skipped for the same reason.

Still Remote lists companies hiring onto their own teams. Boards run by staffing and recruiting agencies, placement platforms, virtual assistant marketplaces, gig and paid-survey panels, coaching marketplaces and holding companies that aggregate portfolio jobs are removed once we identify them, even when every posting is remote, because those postings are other organizations' jobs. Every new board is screened automatically, and a company is named in the Friday email or on the changes page only after its board passes that screen.

Every board is read three times a day, at about 03:00, 11:00 and 19:00 UTC. The directory publishes once a day at 04:12 UTC and this site refreshes at 04:40 UTC. A company is listed when it has at least 5 open roles and at least 60% of them are remote. "Remote-first" means 80% or more.

Each posting is folded into one of 13 teams (Engineering, Data, Product, Design, Marketing, Sales, Customer, Operations, Finance, People, Legal, Clinical, Other) from the department the employer assigns it, with the job title as the fallback. Free-text departments do not always map; those roles count as Other.

A company is flagged when it read 80% or more remote at any point in the last 90 days and has read below 60% for three consecutive daily reads. One odd scan never flags anyone. Per-company history starts on launch day, so this signal fills in over the first weeks.

"Confirmed" means the company said it or a newsroom reported it and we read the article. "Reported" means an article exists that we have not yet verified. A WARN filing on its own never publishes; filings can describe relocations, not job losses.

Pay is read from each listed company's own job board. Where the applicant tracking system has a structured pay field, that field is used; otherwise the posting text is read for pay language. Hourly and monthly figures are annualised. Wide ranges are kept as posted, never trimmed. Each posting counts once, at the midpoint of its range. These are posted ranges, not estimates.

Only ranges stated in US dollars, on postings open to the US or naming no region. Postings in other currencies or limited to other countries are left out rather than converted.

Every morning, between 05:00 and 12:00 UTC. Each pay page states the date its ranges were read.

Proposed from public evidence and verified by fetching the domain. A headquarters city is shown only when it agrees with the company's own office listings or is stated with high confidence; otherwise the field says "not published".
