Fully remote, with optional hubs.
Docker careers page; Ashby job board, checked Nov 3, 2026Docker's careers page says it is a fully remote company, with office hubs in Paris and Seattle for optional in-person work. On Nov 3, 2026, 48 of 50 roles on its Ashby board were tagged remote.
Remote is the default, but most engineering teams sit in North America or Europe, so expect overlap with those time zones.

Sixth CEO, from Oracle cloud.
Docker, Feb 12, 2025; TechCrunch, Feb 13, 2025; Docker release, Mar 5, 2025Don Johnson, who founded Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, replaced Scott Johnston in Feb 2025. His OCI co-founder Mark Cavage became President and COO in March 2025.
A cloud-infrastructure team now runs a developer tools company. That fits the push into cloud sandboxes and paid services.

Analysts say a sale could follow.
TechTarget, Feb 12, 2025After the CEO change, analysts quoted by TechTarget named possible buyers such as Atlassian, Red Hat, Microsoft, a hyperscaler, HPE or Dell. Docker declined to say whether it would seek a sale.
This is outside speculation, not a deal. A sale would decide what staff equity is worth.

New CFO and product chief.
Docker, Aug 18, 2026In Aug 2026 Docker named Vinh Le CFO (ex EA, Tanium, BetterUp, PolyAI) and Mat Velloso Chief Product Officer (ex Microsoft, Google AI Studio, Meta).
The release mentions no IPO work, so we read the hires as about running the business, not a listing. That is a guess.

A critical Docker Hub token flaw.
Docker advisory, Oct 12, 2026From Aug 2024 to Sep 30, 2026, converting an account to an organization could leave an old access token working for someone else. Docker fixed it the day it was reported and says it found no sign of abuse in about 304,000 pushes.
Fast response, but Hub is a supply-chain target. Security work there will stay a priority.

Gave away hardened images.
TechTarget, Dec 17, 2025; Docker, Dec 17, 2025In Dec 2025 Docker made 1,000+ hardened images free under Apache 2.0, and its VP of product called Chainguard's free-tier cut a rug-pull. Docker would not say how many customers pay for hardened images.
A land grab: free images feed paid Enterprise and long-term support tiers. Whether it pays off is not public.

What has to be true for $2.1 billion to hold?
The starting revenue is Docker's own reported figure. A way to think, not a forecast, and not investment advice.
At 42x, Docker needs $50 million of revenue to be worth $2.1 billion. Your world gets there with $98 million, so the next round likely prices above the last.
$100,000 of equity valued at the $2.10B Series C price would be worth about $196,000 on paper in this world, before dilution from new rounds, taxes and vesting. Private shares only turn into cash at a sale, an IPO or a tender offer.

TechCrunch, Mar 31, 2022; Docker, Mar 31, 2022The signals, and which way they push.
- TailwindAgents need somewhere safe to run.
Docker now sells local and cloud sandboxes, an MCP gateway and AI governance as one agent stack, building on tools developers already have.
- TailwindA huge installed base to sell to.
Over 20 million developers and 20 billion Hub pulls a month give Docker a cheap way to reach buyers for new paid products.
- HeadwindRivals and free tools squeeze prices.
Chainguard raised at $3.5B to sell hardened images, and Docker had to give its own away. Container basics are now standard open source.
- HeadwindNo numbers since 2022.
