01 · The business

A flat monthly fee instead of a cut of each order.

Restaurants pay $249 a month plus 5% per order, or $499 a month with no per-order fee, month to month. Guests pay a 5% order support fee on both plans. Every plan includes the website, online ordering, a branded app, loyalty, and email and text marketing. Owner also sells a point-of-sale system. It does not publish a revenue split.

The moat, in three parts
  1. 1
Cheaper than the delivery apps for the restaurant
Third-party apps typically charge restaurants 20% to 30% per order. Owner charges a flat monthly fee, with an optional 5% per-order plan.

  2. 2
    Scale across many small sites
Owner says 100M+ US consumers have used its platform and it powers more US locations than Domino's or Taco Bell. Its sites run thousands of split tests to lift conversion.

    Good

Value more than doubled in 15 months.

Goldman Sachs Alternatives led a $240M round at $2.3B in August 2026, after $1B in May 2025 and $200M in January 2024.

Few restaurant software firms have grown value this fast. It also raises the bar a future sale or IPO must clear.

  2. 02
    Good

    Recurring revenue passed $100M.

Owner says ARR passed $100M by August 2026. Its memo says ARR has more than doubled every year since it began.

Strong for a company selling to small restaurants. No profit or cash burn figure is public.

    Watch

ChowNow's ad claims survive in part.

In January 2026 a federal magistrate judge in Northern California let ChowNow pursue some false advertising claims over Owner's comparison marketing, and dismissed others.

Owner's sales pitch leans on head-to-head comparisons. A loss could force changes to that marketing.

    Neutral

    Remote-first, with two offices.

Job posts say Owner is remote-first and headquartered in San Francisco (Palo Alto in 2021), with a Toronto sales hub. Toronto sales roles work in the office three days a week.

Sales and some marketing roles are tied to an office. Engineering and customer success are mostly remote, including Colombia, Costa Rica and Mexico.

Investors hold six of seven board seats.

The board lists Jack Altman, Jason Lemkin, Alex Bard, Shalini Rao, Harris Pollack (Goldman Sachs) and Alex Kurland, plus CEO Adam Guild.

Common for a venture-backed company at this stage. Investor directors usually shape timing of any sale or IPO.

    Watch

    Customer counts vary by page.

The Series C memo said 10,000+ restaurants. Job posts say 20,000+ restaurant owners helped. The 2026 release says thousands of local businesses. Owner's llms.txt still cites $100M of orders and only a Series C.

Likely different definitions and stale pages, not a red flag. Ask a recruiter for the current paying customer count.

  8. 08
    Neutral

    Plans beyond US restaurants.

Owner plans to expand to the UK, Canada, the EU and Australia, then to salons, spas and independent grocers.

A bigger market supports the valuation, but each new vertical is a new product to build and sell.

Can AI agents do business with Owner.com?

We checked the agent payment programs, developer docs and site rules an AI assistant would meet.

Our verdict

Agents work for owners, not buyers. Owner's own AI agents run marketing and phones; no MCP server or agent ordering for outside AI found.

$100,000 of equity valued at the $2.30B Series D price would be worth about $196,000 on paper in this world, before dilution from new rounds, taxes and vesting. Private shares only turn into cash at a sale, an IPO or a tender offer.

Owner lists on a US exchange by 2032.

ARR passed $100M and it has a Goldman Sachs investor on its board. But it raised $240M just two months ago, so it has no near-term need for public money.
